Lincoln Highway Chapter News
Hello to all POCI Members! Even though we have not been heard from in quite a while, we as a club are quite active. Our main event was the 2nd Annual GM Show we hosted at Walston Motors in Bucyrus, Ohio. There were 103 registered cars of which 43 were Pontiacs. Also, there were approximately 20 non-judged Pontiac member cars to view. We had a silent auction on several items and tables full of very nice door prizes. Our members have also helped other clubs put on their car shows. Weekends can find us cruising to as many as three different shows as each member has a certain charity or club they like to support. Another highlight this summer was a cruise-picnic to a park in Upper Sandusky where we ate, fellowshipped and then visited three different land marks. Its a great feeling to have people slow down, point and look when they see a parade of beautiful cars. Member Dave Tighe had a feature write-up and picture of his 1949 Pontiac Coupe. Member Mark Beyer was honored to have John Sawruk stop and view his collection of Grand Prixs, also offering comments on restoring his one of a kind Hurst Grand Prix. Member Bud Schiefer, 1960 Raspberry Pontiac and Duane Hoffert, 1957 Modified Pontiac Sedan, won trophies at Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk this past summer. Our meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month except December. We meet at Andy Schoch Insurance Agency, 130 South Sandusky Avenue, Bucyrus at 7:00 p.m. and everyone is welcome. Some meetings feature a speaker and/or pizza. Our Christmas Party was held at Buffalo Wild Wings in Marion with all attending having a great time. We then visited Dave & Judy Tighes home and garage where Dave showed us his many die-cast models and trophies. Our January 30th meeting will be our kick-off planner for our upcoming 3rd Annual All GM Car Show, Saturday, September 8th at Walston Motors, Bucyrus, Ohio. Would also like to mention the charitable side of our club. Because of the great support we had from our sponsors, we voted to return a portion of the proceeds from our car show to help a church-run soup kitchen, the local Salvation Army and with members from the Northwest Chapter of POCI we donated personal items, clothing, and games to the Soldier & Sailors Home in Sandusky, Ohio. We are all awaiting dry roads and warmer weather, Happy Motoring!! Mike White, President Lincoln Highway Chapter of Ohio P.O.
