April 2007
A Hawaiian theme pot luck dinner was held at Steve Westebergs house on February 24th. There are pictures available of all the male members that came in grass skirts. There was plenty of food and games. Our membership drive resulted in 77 members rejoining. Now that the season is nearly on us (even though snow is forecasted after the 60s and 70s of this week), the calendar is getting full. Two major activities are schedule for April. On the weekend of the 13th to the 15th, Little Rhody will have its annual Cape Cod getaway weekend at the Heritage House Hotel in Hyannis, MA. Because there are several options available, members are asked to call the hotel at either 508-775-7000 or 800-352-7189 to make reservations. There are one or two dinner packages as well as multiple days available. On April 29th, Little Rhody will hold its second dust off show which will be held in conjunction with the Tomorrow Funds annual stroll. This will be a family event with activities for everyone. The Tomorrow Fund will select three cars as the Tomorrow Fund Favorites. Like last year, this will be a low key, fun event with no charge. Please come out and help the Tomorrow Fund raise money for children with cancer. The following shows have been placed on the Little Rhody calendar: May 20th Nutmeg Chapter spring show at Harbor Motors, Old Saybrook; May 20th Yankee Chapter annual dust off June 3rd LITTLE RHODY SPRING SHOW at Fiore Pontiac; June 3rd Pioneer Valley GTOAA show in Feeding Hills, MA; June 10th Nor-Eastern show at the Budweiser Brewery in Merrimac, NH; June 17th Dream Cars for Kids show in Windsor, CT; August 5th Yankee chapter all GM show; August 10-12 2007 Eastern regional in Saddlebrook, NJ. More information will be available as we get closer; but, mark your calendars now. Please support our fellow Pontiac enthusiast. There is sad news to report. Estelle Genser passed away on March 13th. Wally Genser was our first President and he and Estelle were instrumental in getting Little Rhody to where it is today. Contributions in her memory can made to the Steere House (3rd floor), 100 Borden St, Providence, RI 02903.
