8/10 Update NORTH COAST PONTIAC CHAPTER (OH)
AUGUST 2010 Update NORTH COAST PONTIAC CHAPTER (Ohio) The featured car for the month of August was Chuck Graham's 1970 Trans Am. Chuck always admired the engineering successes of the Pontiac. His first Poncho was a '64 LeMans convertible. Years later he owned a 1969 Trans Am. He enjoyed driving the '69, however, he always liked the body style of the second generation TA. With subtle lines changing from creases to curves, the 1970 Trans Am was known as one the most incredible cars. Chuck thought - wishful thinking. Well, wishes do come true. One day, driving through Ashtabula, there she was in all her glory, a '70 Trans Am Polar White exterior with blue stripes. The TA also had bucket seats. The owner, Rudy, was not up for selling the car. Chuck kept in touch with him and finally in 1997 Rudy decided that Chuck would provide a good home for this classic. Dave Varner of Varner Auto Body worked on the car, bringing it to the show quality it is today. This Ram Air, 400, 4-speed BIRD can be brought to a stop with power assisted front disc and rear drum brakes. The styling of the second generation Trans Am encompasses a hood scoop and an air extractor. Single headlamps make the car look aggressive, yet refined. The large size of the rear spoiler tells everyone that it is indeed a TA. Chuck has attended the All Pontiac Car Show in Solon, the BOP in Brecksville, several POCI conventions, and area cruise-ins. This striking '70 Trans Am has won numerous awards. Chuck enjoys cruising in his classic. His '70 Trans Am truly has great style and spirit. Chuck is proud to own this unique machine.
