Join Us at the Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells September 15-17, 2017!
Pontiac Adventures came to life as an idea by September of 2013. Chris Wachel and Deb Stebane had been regular attendees at the G8/GTO Owners International Event (G.O.N.E.) in Bettendorf, IA for a number of years. That event took place from 2010-2013, but changes were being planned.
When they found out that the event was possibly going to relocate to Texas, they approached G.O.N.E. Organizer Joe Morgan with a terrific idea. They wanted to know if he minded if they create an alternative to G.O.N.E. for folks that couldn't travel to Texas, and he thought it was a great idea! They saw how the event had brought together a great group of car people, most of whom didn't know each other before, and some terrific cars. These people had become great friends and really enjoyed each others' company. The event had become like a big family reunion, with a common theme of Pontiacs.
Chris suggested that creating an event that gave these people a way to get together again was important. He also felt strongly that opening up the event to all Pontiacs of all eras could make it even better. He was absolutely correct. Chris & Deb approached Ed Saari, Director Special Events who was responsible for all car events at Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI. The intent was to combine the success of a show and shine event with successful tours and other events that Ed Saari was producing for other brands of cars at Chula Vista Resort, Wisconsin Dells, WI and the rest is history!
Pontiac Adventures, September 15 - 17, 2017, is in its 4th year of existence. It is a combination event that features a people's choice car show, in addition to road tours (as in other Chula Vista Adventures events) and racing options. The event offers traditional 1/4 mile drag racing at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI, as well as hot laps around the 1/3 mile Dells Motor Speedway in Wisconsin Dells, WI to test driver's skills on a banked paved oval.
We are pleased to announce that our Title Sponsor for the 2017 Pontiac Adventures will again be POCI.
There is really no other Pontiac event that offers this variety of activities in a great riving destination like the Wisconsin Dells. Drag racing takes place Thursday evening, with a group tour taking attendees back to Chula Vista Resort. Driving tours take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, all beginning and ending at Chula Vista Resort. They cover a variety of scenic routes throughout the state of Wisconsin (where there are no straight roads) and offer stops at great venues along the way. There are a variety of tours both scenic and spirited, which are sure to appeal to all types of people in attendance.
The People's Choice Car Show takes place Saturday morning, and gives everyone a chance to polish their cars up and gather together for great cars and great conversation. It provides a great opportunity for "modern" Pontiac owners to see and appreciate the history of Pontiac and what came before them. It gives "classic" Pontiac owners a chance to see that Pontiac built some great cars all the way until the end in 2009. The event wraps up with a delicious brunch and awards banquet at Chula Vista Resort on Sunday.
